Lifang Hou, Lifang Hou, MD, MS, PhD

Dr. Lifang Hou, MD, MS, PhD, is a Professor of Preventive Medicine and Chief of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention, and Director of the Center for Global Oncology at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. Dr. Hou received her MD/PhD dual degree from Tsukuba University in Japan, and postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the United States. Dr. Hou’s work integrates biomedical research with clinical care, public health, data science, and emerging laboratory technologies to drive innovations in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Dr. Hou is a member of the NCI Blue Ribbon Panel on the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative and has extensive experience in conducting clinical, population-based, and implementation science cancer research in both US and Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Dr. Hou has led several NCI-funded large cancer prevention projects in West Africa. Dr. Hou is also actively involved in training next generation cancer researchers in LMICs, leading two NIH-funded training projects in partnership with LMIC institutions. Additionally, Dr. Hou has a wealth of experience in the development of innovative technologies for cancer prevention and early detection. At the NIBIB-funded Center for Innovation in Point-Of-Care Technologies for HIV/AIDS-associated diseases at Northwestern University, Dr. Hou offers support and guidance for novel point-of-care technologies aimed at cancer diagnosis and screening.
