Richard Berri, MD, FACS, Chief of Surgical Oncology, and Director of the HIPEC program at HFH St. John Hospital
spearheaded Michigan’s first comprehensive HIPEC program at St. John doing his first case in 2011. Dr. Berri was
fellowship-trained at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Surgical Oncology and returned to Michigan to focus on the treatment of advanced cancers
of the abdominal cavity. He has now performed the highest number of CRS and HIPEC cases of any program in Michigan and has treated local, regional, national and international patients with success. His 10-year data was recently published in the American Journal of Surgery and the program is in the top 5 for yearly surgical HIPEC case volume nationally.
In January of this year he became the first surgeon in Michigan to perform an innovative, minimally invasive procedure for Peritoneal cancers, Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosolized Chemotherapy (PIPAC). His multidisciplinary team of experts ensures the delivery of outcome based high quality care and his program is known for innovation, surgical excellence, compassion, and an unwavering focus on unmatched care of the patient.
