Sara Taveras Alam
Dr. Sara Taveras Alam is an Assistant Professor focusing on Malignant Hematologist at UT Health Science Center in Houston / Memorial Hermann (MH) Cancer Center at TMC, Co-Director of the Bispecific Antibodies Center MHH at TMC and Associate Program Director for the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at UT Houston / MH. She is a member of the MH Physician Network Oncology Clinical Programs Committee (CPC), the Oncology Accountable Care Organization (ACO) at MH and the MD Anderson Cancer Center Statewide Lymphoma Grand Rounds Steering Committee. She has held multiple roles with the American Society of Hematology (ASH) within their Trainee Council, Medical Educators Institute, Minority Recruitment Initiative and Hematology Review Series. Her research has focused on medical education, health care outcomes, quality improvement and disparities in hematologic malignancies.
Dr. Taveras is from the Dominican Republic, where she was raised and completed medical school prior to immigrating to the United States. She completed residency in Jacobi Medical Center affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY and served as Chief Resident. She was a hospitalist at Sylvester Cancer Center with University of Miami dedicated mostly to Leukemia & Lymphoma patients before her fellowship with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
