Terri was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and in 2014. After a double mastectomy and successful DIEP flap breast reconstruction she opened the nonprofit organization DiepCFoundation.org providing support, education, and resources for those affected by breast cancer facing mastectomy.

Terri is a Project LEAD graduate, patient advocacy training from the National Breast Cancer Coalition. She is the co-lead on the World Health Innovation Summit shared decision-making expert group. Terri hosts the DiepCJourney podcast.

She has been an invited faculty speaker at national and international conferences.

In 2025, Terri hosted the inaugural DiepCFoundation Breast Symposium featuring leading surgeons, medical experts, researchers, medical tattoo artists, and inspiring patient stories. The next symposium is scheduled for August 29, 2026, in Bellevue, WA.
